Abstract
Distension of the cervical oesophagus with air is a recognised phenomenon in achalasia. Two cases of corrosive stricture of the upper thoracic oesophagus are described in which the cervical oesophagus was similarly distended with air, showing that this feature is not peculiar to achalasia.Keywords
