Abstract
Explanations of the left branch of the Paschen curve; of small gap discharge and its knee characteristic; of “ vacuum ” discharge and of the Vs versus y/ D law; are found with the help of the field emission theory. A possible explanation of the Paschen minimum P X D is presented. Townsend and “ right ” side ionization processes are contrasted. Keywords
