Abstract
The effects of hydrogen ion implantation on superconductivity in YBa2Cu3O7-x have been investigated using resistance-temperature curves and X-ray diffraction patterns. Both the temperatures of superconducting onset and zero resistance were lowered through hydrogen ion implantations. Superconductivity was observed even in a sample with a tetragonal structure besides an orthorhombic one (implanted to 7.6×1016 H+/cm2), but it disappeared by the implantations of 1.5×1017 H+/cm2 and above. Shrinkage in the lattice observed in the sample implanted to 7.6×1015 H+/cm2 and the shift of transition temperature, T c(onset), through hydrogen ion implantations suggested that the implanted hydrogen atoms deoxidized the YBa2Cu3O7-x compound. Keywords
