Stress dependences of longitudinal wave velocity in magnetostrictive metallic-glass ribbon

Abstract
The letter deals with some effects of an externally applied uniaxial tensile stress on a longitudinal wave velocity in a magnetostrictive metallic-glass ribbon (of which the magnetostriction constant is positive). Experimental results show that a correctly chosen tensile stress gives a doubled velocity change, and reduces the bias field giving maximum velocity change by 22%.
