Abstract
This paper reports upon the development of a unit commitment method, and its implementation in program form on a 100 machine system. The method presented satisfies the many operating constraints that are encountered in system operations. The unit commitment function is employed by operating personnel for both actual operations and for operations planning. The paper discussed the elapsed computing time required to perform the commitment function in a process computer while executing higher priority functions and also the substantial savings realized in system operations over manual methods of commitment. Keywords
