Abstract
This paper presents an analog/hybrid simulation method for linear and nonlinear distributed para meter systems. The modal method is based on a functional approximation for the computer solution of initial value partial differential equation prob lems using eigenfunctions. First, the mathematical foundations are reviewed; then the questions concerning the technical realiza tion on an analog/hybrid computer are treated. The simulation results for two examples of chemical processes are discussed. Keywords
