Abstract
A quantitative high pressure liquid chromato-graphic (HPLC) assay has been developed for the determination of glutamic acid decarboxylase (GAD) activity in subregions of rat brain. GAD activity was determined indirectly by measurement of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA). Fluorimetric detection was made possible by derivatization with ortho-phthalaldehyde and the limit of detection was 11 ng GABA.Keywords
