Abstract
A phenomenological treatment of partition of a solute ion between the saturated solution and the equilibrated crystal is given. The description is applicable to the experimental results obtained with Ni++ as the solute ion in (Zn, Ni)SiF6 and in (Mg, Ni)SiF6 solutions. Crystal coring in mixed crystals is discussed from the standpoint of partition coefficients. The partition coefficient for Ni++ was also measured by using other host salts isotypic with the fluosilicate. Keywords
