Abstract
This paper reviews our knowledge of the feeding of the large forest antelope, the bongo, and describes the results of feeding studies in south west Sudan through tracking and the examination of rumen contents. One hundred and sixteen plants species were found to be eaten by bongo; these were mainly dicotyledonous species from the shrub layer in forest and at the forest edge; rumen contents in the late dry and early wet season were on average composed of less than ten percent grass; plant parts eaten were mainly leaves, with very little stem, fruit or seeds. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
