Abstract
I WILL CONTINUE the presentation of the radiologic diagnosis of neuro-otologic problems by the use of a more recently developed technique: multidirectional body section radiography or tomography. I would like to clarify the controversy of conventional radiography versus tomography in the study of the ear. In a recent meeting in Puerto Rico, Dr. Gene Compere1 divided the otologist and otoradiologist into a right wing including the ones in favor of conventional radiography and into a left wing in favor of tomography. I really think that such a division does not exist and that the controversy is only the result of a misunderstanding. Tomography bears the same importance and relationship to radiography of the temporal bone as the otomicroscope bears to surgery of the ear. By the use of the otomicroscope you are now able to perform surgical procedures that were beyond the limits of accomplishment by naked eye observation.
