Abstract
A long-term and psychologically traumatic complication of any ano-rec- tal condition requiring corrective surgery is faecal incontinence. Conservative treatment should be attempted initially, although the effect is often limited or ineffective. A recent advance in surgety is the antegrade colonic enema (ACE), or Malone's procedure (1, 2). This article describes how this is used to manage faecal incontinence in a group of children whose quality of life is severely affected by lack of bowel control.
