Who's on the Fast Track? The Relationship Between Career Mobility, Individual and Task Characteristics.

Abstract
Career mobility is examined in a sample of 1,111 British managers. Upward status mobility is positively related to preferences for jobs with growth and development, material rewards and job differences. It is negatively related to age, job predictability, and task requirements change. The patterns of relationships vary over career stages.
