Abstract
Numerical solutions of the Bethe-Salpeter equation for quark-antiquark bound states in a Coulomb potential are obtained in the instantaneous approximation. Particular emphasis is given to the mass splittings generated by the nonperturbative calculation of relativistic corrections to the simple nonrelativistic spectrum. It is shown that the hyperfine ground-state splitting of orthocharmonium and paracharmonium may be quite large. Keywords
