Abstract
Presentation of CaseA fifty-six-year-old woman was admitted to the hospital because of fever.Eighteen years previously she had a febrile illness for a week, and a year later she had "virus pneumonia," which resolved promptly but was followed by persistent fever for approximately five months. Six months before admission dental extractions were performed. Three months later there was the onset of a mild illness characterized by generalized myalgia, chilly sensations, a headache and elevation of the temperature to 102°F. An injection of penicillin was administered, together with several capsules of an antibiotic that provoked mild nausea and was promptly . . .
