Mourning the Death of a Child: The Family and Group Process

Abstract
Families are shocked—sometimes devastated—by the death of a child. The authors, who work in a hospital for chronically and terminally ill children, describe how they intervene with families during bereavement, integration, renewed bereavement and post-death mourning. The article describes, as well, the authors' work with bereavement groups and stresses the importance of connecting families to self-help and mutual-aid groups.
