Abstract
Cysteine and glutathione reduce indigo-carmine in the absence of O, the reduction becoming more rapid as the amount of O present is reduced; but fairly large amounts of O accelerate the reduction. This last is attributed to the formation of H2O2 during the autoxidation of the -SH group; previous treatment of indigo carmine with H2O2 was followed by an acceleration in its reduction. The work of Kendall and Nord is criticized. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
