Abstract
SUMMARY: Protonema of Hyophila involuta remains bud‐free on basal medium (Knop's Major and Nitsch's Minor salts). Auxins, gibberellic acid, abscisic acid, chelates, vitamin B12, activated charcoal, coconut milk; and altered hydration, pH, temperature, light intensity and duration do not induce buds. Cytokinins initiate multicellular gemmae on the protonema. Buds are induced only by the interaction of IAA with kinetin or DMAAP, and these develop into normal gametophores. This publication has 19 references indexed in Scilit:
