Abstract
Surviving rabbit prostatic tissue yielded values for Qo2, R.Q., QgN2 and QgO2. Daily injs. for 14 days of androgen, estrogen and a combination of the 2 produced no significant change. Castration decreased the O2 consumption and increased the R.Q. The metabolism of tissues from benign hypertrophy of the prostate in man did not resemble that of the rabbit tissues or other tissues of man, but appeared distinctive. It was characterized by low O2 consumption and significant aerobic glycolysis. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
