Abstract
7 experiments failed to show any consistent effects on drinking behavior of central chemical stimulation using gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) in the rat amygdala. Solutions of GABA, ranging in concentration 1-72 * 10-4 M, were injected bilaterally into the amygdaloid cortical nuclei of 15 male albino Wistar rats under conditions of 3- or 11-hr water deprivation and 0- or 23-hr deprivation. Other empirical data are adduced to explain the apparent contradiction between this finding and that of S. P. Grossman. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2006 APA, all rights reserved)Keywords
