Abstract
The ground-state tunnelling splitting of a magnetic ion in a crystal field is investigated as a function of an applied magnetic field. Using a phase-space path integral formalism, which allows one to avoid the x-y approximation, leads to a substantial improvement compared with previous results. Keywords
