Abstract
The works of Kaluza and of O. Klein have shown that it is possible to give to electromagnetic forces a geometrical interpretation similar to that of gravitational forces in the theory of relativity. It is necessary to assume the existence of a five-dimensional continuum defined by d σ 2 = γ μv dx μ dx v , (1) where the summation extends over μ v } = 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. The coefficients, γ μv have the values γ mn = g mn + γ 55 α 2 ϕ m ϕ n , γ 5 m = αγ 55 ϕ m , } (2) where α and γ 55 are constants, the g ’s the Riemannian coefficients and the ϕ ’s the components of the electromagnetic potential.This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
