Abstract
In order to understand the low value that several hadronic models predict for , we investigate the Δ contribution to the Adler-Weisberger sum rule in the MIT bag model and in the Skyrme model. It is shown that because of recoil corrections this value decreases 15% from (5/3) in the for- mer, and that it is very small in the latter because of the depressed prediction for . The meaning of the sum rule in the context of large- models is also discussed.
