Abstract
This antimalarial screening program was initiated after the discovery that the Plasmodium falciparum parasite chiefly responsible for the high incidence of malaria in Vietnam was resistant to drugs such as chloroquine, generally recognized since World War II as satisfactory antimalarial agents. The urgent need for the screening operation was further emphasized when the same resistant strain, and others, were encountered in different malaria centers in Asia and in South America. Keywords
