Abstract
The tips of the feathers on the head and neck of the scaled cuckoo contain melanin. It is deposited in a structure considered to represent the fusion of numerous pigment-containing barbs. The structure and pigment of these tips is quite different from that on the secondary remiges of the cedar waxwing (Bombycilla cedrorum). This publication has 6 references indexed in Scilit:
