4,7-Dimethoxyindole Derivatives Bearing Alkyl Groups in the Pyrrole Fused Ring: Structure of the Demethylated Compounds

Abstract
The alkylation of 4,7-dimethoxyindole and the demethylation of the obtained compounds with anhydrous aluminium chloride in benzene is described. The demethylated derivatives have the structure of 4,7-dioxo-4,5,6,7-tetrahydroindoles.
