Abstract
Mechanical alloying of a mixture of Ag and Fe powders, with initial grain size of about 100 µm, has been performed. Metallography in atomic scale, by the use of a high resolution electron microscopy, reveals the nanometer-sized crystalline structure in a Ag-50 at%Fe alloy. The 57Fe Mössbauer spectroscopy confirms the formation of small mutual solid solution in Ag and Fe phases. Keywords
