Ethnographic Trouble

Abstract
W. F. Whyte did research in a real community, and community members can recognize themselves and others in his book. This social fact of research is the center of contempo rary ethnographic work: Ethnography has ethical fallout. How do we write so that our work is credible, believable, accurate, and yet protects the identities of our participants?
