Staining And Removing Tubed Tissue Cultures for Permanent Records

Abstract
The difficulties encountered in growing and staining tissue cells on small cover slips are avoided by employing routine staining methods on tube cultures in situ. The stained preparations can be removed on collodion strips for oil-immersion microscopy. Staining the monolayers before collodion embedding and placing the stained strips on slides, cell side up, eliminates the need for removal or clearing of the collodion. Stained tubes can be stored indefinitely until collodion mounts are desired. The preparations make excellent classroom demonstrations as well as permanent records of cytopathology.
