Abstract
Cat epithelial extract was coupled with CrCl3 to red cells and used as an antigen in a hemagglutination assay. Agglutinins co-existed with Ig[immunoglobulin]E type antibodies in 44% of patients with respiratory allergy and sensitivity to cat dander but occurred in only 1% of asthmatic patients sensitized to other allergens or in controls. Agglutinins were detected in 6 of 104 cat fanciers, and 3 of those with agglutinins had asthma. Agglutinins were of IgG type and were heterogeneous in specificity. This publication has 4 references indexed in Scilit:
