A rapid and sensitive automated determination of phosphate in natural waters1

Abstract
The malachite green micromethod for determination of inorganic phosphate has been automated for use in natural waters. It shows very good reproducibility. The molar absorptivity was 120,000 cm–1 mol (PO43−)−1 liter−1, six times more sensitive than the method of Murphy and Riley. The sometimes very important interferences from silicate and arsenate are easily removed.
