Abstract
Methods are described for the micro-estimation of urinary steroids by enzymatic methods utilizing diphos-phopyridine nucleotide-linked hydroxysteroid dehydrogenases of Pseudo-monas testosteroni. The procedure depends upon selective enzymatic oxidations and reductions of steroids and the spectrophotometric measurement of the associated changes in concentration of the reduced coenzyme. The method permits the estimation of 3[alpa]-hydroxysteroids, 3[beta]-(and 17[beta]-) hydroxysteroids, 3-ketosteroids and 17-ketosteroids in amounts of about 1 mu mole. Keywords
