Chemical Structure of Lipid A of Selenomonas ruminantiwm

Abstract
The lipid A component of lipopolysaccharides from Selenomonas ruminantium was extracted and purified from the solvent and acid treated cells. The basic structure of lipid A was identified as β-glucosaminyl-1, 6-glucosamine with ester and amide linked fatty acids. The major fatty acid component was β-OH C13.0 acid, when the cells were grown with added valerate.
