Abstract
Endocarditis caused by Candida parapsilosis surrounding the base of a Starr-Edwards prosthetic valve in a 40-year-old man is reported. During amphotericin B treatment, the infecting organism grew in hypertonic blood culture medium when there was no growth in ordinary blood cultures. At operation, bead-like friable, small vegetations were found instead of the large mass of vegetation commonly encountered in Candida endocarditis. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
