Tubular Carcinoma of the Breast: A Clinicopathologic Study of 35 Cases

Abstract
Thirty-five cases of tubular carcinoma of the breast are presented. This rare type of breast carcinoma has a much better prognosis than does infiltrating duct carcinoma. Although 9% of the patients had metastases to the axillary lymph nodes, no deaths resulted directly from the disease. In 80% of the cases the tubular carcinoma was associated with other histologic types of primary carcinoma of the breast, the most frequent being intraductal papillary carcinoma. In two patients the tubular carcinoma was bilateral. All patients were treated by radical or modified radical mastectomy. Several cases of special interest are discussed in detail.
