Abstract
Five dammarane-oligoglycosides named gypenosides XLVII (1), XLVIII (2), XLIX (3), L (4) and LI (5) were isolated from the aerial parts of G. pentaphyllum collected in Tokushima pref. On the basis of chemical and physicocochemical evidence, they were characterized as follows; 1, 2.alpha., 3.beta., 12.beta., 20(S), 26-pentahydroxydammar-24-ene-3-0-.beta.-sophoroside-20-0-.beta.-rutinoside; 2, 19-oxo-3.beta., 20(S), 21-trihydroxydammar-24-ene-3-0-{[.alpha.-rhamnopyranosyl (1 .fwdarw. 2)] [.beta.-glucopyranosyl (1 .fwdarw. 3)]-.alpha.-L-arabinopyranoside}-21-0-.beta.-glucopyranoside; 3, 19-oxo-3.beta., 20(S), 21-trihydroxydammar-24-ene-3-0-{[.alpha.-rhamnopyranosyl (1 .fwdarw. 2)] [.beta.-xylopyranosyl (1 .fwdarw. 3)]-.alpha.-L-arabinopyranoside}-21-0-.beta.-glucopyranoside; 4, 2.alpha., 3.beta., 12.beta., 20(S)-tetrahydroxydammar-24-ene-3-0-.beta.-sophoroside; and 5, 2.alpha., 3.beta., 12.beta., 20(R)-tetrahydroxydammar-24-ene-3-0-.beta.-sophoroside.Keywords
