Picosecond diffuse reflectance laser flash photolysis

Abstract
Picosecond pumping and probing of an opaque sample of xanthone adsorbed on to silica gel demonstrates the growth of a transient absorption at 590 nm which levels to a plateau within 800 ps; on the basis of spectral evidence from nanosecond diffuse reflectance laser flash photolysis, this transient is assigned as the triplet state of xanthone.
