Abstract
Cross sections for the rotational excitation of H2, N2 and O2 by the impact of slow positrons are calculated in the distorted wave approximation. The effects of long range and short range interaction are investigated. It is found that the inclusion of the short range interaction affects the cross sections appreciably. Keywords
