Lithium Effects on Calcium Metabolism in Rats

Abstract
Administration of lithium chloride to rats increased serum calcium. The distribution of injected 45Ca was also changed by lithium: radioactivity in serum was increased, radioactivity in bone was decreased. It was also shown that the effect of lithium was independent of secretion of calcitonin, parathyroid hormone and glucagon.
