Abstract
The local structure and magnetic properties of the icosahedral Al65Cu20Fe15, produced by liquid quenching and by conventional solidification and annealing, have been examined by the Mössbauer effect in comparison with the equilibrium tetragonal Al7Cu2Fe1 compound, nonequilibrium bcc Al63Cu23Fe14 and amorphous Al71Cu14Fe15 alloys. The atomic arrangement of the constituent elements has been found to be different in the two quasicrystals prepared by the different procedures. Keywords
