Abstract
The pneumonia of Fried-lander''s bacillus is an uncommon infection, occurring once in every hundred pneumonias. Mortality attains a rate close to 82%. The clinical and histological characteristics of the pneumonia are discussed. The different types of Friedlander''s bacillus are found in pneumonia in the following proportions: Type A, 64%; Type B, 14%; Type C, 7%; and Group X, 15%. Type A appears to be the most virulent and fatal form of Friedlander infection. Possibilities of specific treatment are discussed, with the recommendation that specific antiserum be given exptl. trial. Keywords
