Abstract
Cavities situated on grain boundaries subjected to a tensile stress can grow by diffusion of vacancies from the boundary to the cavity. The equation of Hull and Rimmer (1959) for the rate of growth is modified to take into account the additional diffusional fluxes from longitudinal boundaries to the cavities and to the tensile boundaries. It is shown that enhanced growth rates may be expected at high temperatures and wide cavity spacing. Keywords
