Abstract
STUDIES1 OF THE prevalence of childhood maltreatment (including emotional and physical abuse, neglect, and sexual abuse) in the general population have shown that it is surprisingly common. Although psychological sequelae from this trauma (eg, depression and anxiety) have long been appreciated,2 only lately have lasting physical health effects been apparent.Keywords
