Abstract
The empirical formula proposed recently relating wind‐stress coefficient to wind velocity, C10 = (0.8 + 0.065 U10) × 10−3, appears to be applicable even in hurricanes. This formula also agrees with the correlation curve proposed earlier, C10 = [κ/ln(1/aC10F2)]2, F = U10/(gZ)1/2, where a = 0.0185 is the Charnock constant and Z = 10 m is the anemometer height. Keywords
