Abstract
A collisionless gas flows through the interior of a tube of circular cross-section, having both an entrance and an exit and which reflects molecules diffusely. Suitable complementary variational principles are used to obtain upper and lower bounds for the transmission probability of the tube. The numerical results, believed to be the most accurate to date, are compared with those of other authors.Keywords
