Abstract
A theoretical argument is used to suggest a new method of processing experimental results to obtain information on pairwise hydrophobic interactions. The experimental data consist of measurements of solkubilities and partition coefficients of some alkylbenzene molecules in water and in n‐hexane. From these data one may extract information on the intramolecular hydrophobic interactions, i.e., interaction between two alkyl groups attached to a ’’backbone’’ molecule. Some preliminary results are reported and interpreted.
