Abstract

The early botanical activity on the Antarctic Continent is considered and current studies concerned with flowering plants and lichens are described. The author's lichen ecology studies at Hallett Station in Victoria Land are summarized. Some important yet unsolved problems of antarctic botany are enumerated.
