Plasma electron heating by injection of low-energy electrons

Abstract
It is shown that the electron temperature of a multidipole plasma can be significantly increased by injecting electrons with energy less than the ionization potential of the neutral gas. Electron temperatures determined from Langmuir probes and ion‐acoustic waves show close agreement.Keywords
