Abstract
The 18-m face of a working quarry at Northfield, north of Denny, Stirlingshire, lays bare the upper part of a quartz-dolerite sill which shows in marked degree the type of differentiation originally described by J. D. Falconer in the sills of the Bathgate Hills. New data are given, including five chemical analyses. These, together with Falconer’s account and a series of analyses from the Palisade Sill, New Jersey, give a fairly clear and complete picture of the trend of differentiation in tholeiitic sheets. Keywords
