Abstract
An optimisation technique for the design of a super-structure-grating (SSG) with uniform reflection peaks is described. An SSG reflector with multiple-phase-shift insertion is fabricated and the expected transmission spectrum is confirmed. Singlemode oscillation in all SSG modes is achieved using a modified SSG-DBR laser. Keywords
