Abstract
Treatment of adult male rats with hydrocortisone acetate in a dosis of 5 mg/Kg of body weight daily during 20 days produced a decrease in the concentration of hyaluronic acid, chondroitin‐6‐sulfate and heparin in gingiva. These effects are at least partially due to a decrease in the rate of synthesis of such compounds, as measured by incorporation of acetate‐C14 and sulfate‐S35 into mucopolysaccharides.
